Which persons are required to register themselves
Following persons are applicable for NTN registration:
- Firstly, every individual whose income chargeable to “Salary” exceeds seventy-five percent (75%) of his taxable income and whose taxable income exceeds Rs. 600,000/- for the tax year 2020 is required to register with NTN.
- Secondly, except for the aforementioned salaried individuals, everyone whose taxable income exceeds Rs. 400,000 must register with NTN by the end of the tax year 2020.
- Thirdly, for the tax year 2020, registration is required for any AOP (Association of Person) whose taxable income exceeds Rs. 400,000.
- Under the Income Tax Ordinance of 2001, registration is a requirement for every firm.
- Most importantly, According to Section 114 of the 2001 Income Tax Ordinance, every registered person must submit an annual income tax return.
- Every registered person must enter bank account information within 90 days of registration.
- Lastly, everyone needs a registration to register for the sales tax (STRN). Concerned person requires registration and Income Tax Return Filing to be added to the Active Taxpayer List (ATL).

Step 1:

To register for an NTN, a person, an AOP (Association of Persons), a business, or a foreign national must re-enroll via the IRIS portal of the .
13-digit CNIC (Computerized National Identity Card) numbers will be treated as registration Numbers for people.

Step 1: Launch the FBR - NTN Registration IRIS Portal.
You must access an online IRIS PORTAL from the ‘s official website to begin the registration process. A screen will emerge with numerous options in various colors
Step 2: Pick the right registration option.
Option 1: Registered Person E-Enrollment:
If you are already registered and want to enroll in the FBR’s IRIS Portal for the electronic filing of income tax returns and other taxes, click on the green tab that looks like this in the top left corner i-e E-enrollment for logged-in individuals
Option 2: Unregistered Person NTN Registration
If you are not registered with the for income tax purposes, select the blue tax option in the top-center menu that looks like this i-e Unregistered Person Registration
Step 3: Complete the relevant NTN Registration Form.

If E-Enrollment for Registered Person is the Case Fill out the e-enrollment form’s basic information as follows:
- You must enter your 13-digit CNIC number in the “CNIC” field.
- The “Name” field will automatically populate with your name.
- Choose your cell phone service provider in the “Current Service Provider” field’s drop-down menu.
- Most importantly, enter your mobile number in the “Cell Number” field with the format 00923XXXXXXXX.
- Additionally, the “Affirm Cell No.” form requires you to confirm the same Cell Number again.
- Put your email address in the “Email” Field precisely.
- Confirm the same email address again in the “Confirm Email” Field.
- Moving further, enter the Captcha code precisely, then click “Submit.”
- You will receive two different security codes from the FBR online system on your mobile device and through email within 5 to 10 minutes, as stated above. Place these codes in the appropriate fields, then resubmit.
- You will receive your CNIC (Login ID), Password, and Pin code on your mobile device via SMS and email, along with the creation of your online account on the FBR’s IRIS Portal.
E Enrolment Form\sIn case: Unregistered Person NTN Registration
Fill out the New NTN Registration Form with the following essential data:
- You must enter your 13-digit CNIC number in the “CNIC” column.
- The “Name” field will automatically populate with your name.
- Choose the Prefix from the “Prefix” field’s drop-down menu.
- After that, enter your first, middle, and last names in the corresponding fields.
- Choose your cell phone service provider in the “Current Service Provider” field’s drop-down menu.
- Then enter your mobile number in the “Cell Number” field with the format 00923XXXXXXXX.
- Additionally, the “Affirm Cell No.” form requires you to confirm the same Cell Number again.
- Moving further, put your email address in the “Email” Field precisely.
- Confirm the same email address again in the “Confirm Email” Field.
- Enter the Captcha code precisely, then click “Submit.”

Step 4: New IRIS Registration Form:
Connect to the IRIS Online Portal. You can now access the FBR IRIS Online Portal to log in. Now, enter your 13-digit CNIC number in the “Registration No” form and your Password in the appropriate field (attention to capital and small letters).
Step 5: Submit registration Form 181
Now select “Registration(1)” from the “Draft” menu located on the left side of the window. Thank you for completing your registration at the IRIS Portal, and your “registration Certificate” is available for download.
